Hi, I’m Jeff. I started The Rain Reclamation Station because I got tired of not being able to find a straight answer to one simple question: can I actually put a rain barrel under my gutter without breaking some law I’ve never heard of?
It turns out the answer is yes, almost everywhere in the country, and it’s one of the easiest things a homeowner can do. But finding that answer took way longer than it should have. I read through state statutes, dug through old forum arguments, and sorted through blog posts that flatly contradicted each other. That whole mess is what convinced me this needed to be simpler for the next person.
Collecting that rain isn’t some fringe idea for hardcore homesteaders. It’s one of the most practical, ordinary things you can do for your garden, your water bill, and your own peace of mind during a dry summer.
That’s really what this site is about. I want you to know exactly what’s legal where you live, because the rules do shift a little from state to state and that clarity matters more than anything else we could offer. And I want to make it easy to actually get started, which is why we sell real rain barrels from a company that has been building them for years, not some barrel that shows up looking nothing like the photo.
Somewhere down the road, I’d love for this to grow into our own line of rain barrels and harvesting gear. For now my job is simple: give you good information and good equipment, and let you decide how far you want to take it. Some people just want to keep their tomatoes alive. Others want to filter their rainwater all the way down to something they can drink. Both are good reasons to start, and I’m glad you’re here.
